MANSFIELD: Dedication, generosity, and affection were a powerful combination in the life of John Rudrick. He was a man fully committed to the Lord, his family, and his job – who loved with a giving heart, and was liberal in showing his love to his family. His joyful heart helped others, and had just a bit of an ornery streak!

John’s faith is now sight, as he passed into the Lord’s care Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was 94.

Born October 27, 1929 in Mansfield to parents John R. Rudrick, Sr. and Lucille (Kindinger) Rudrick, he graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1947. On June 19, 1948 he married Gretchen Tschantz. Their 75 years of marriage have been beautifully united – in sync really – whether ice skating, dancing, or just walking, they were always in rhythm. John and Gretchen enjoyed camping and bicycling, and were always up for a night of cards or board games.

As a Christ follower, John was eager to share his testimony – bold in sharing his faith – with a T-shirt, ball cap, kind deed or word.

The full length of his career, John worked with Bogner Dry Cleaners – first as a delivery driver – working his way up to manager.

His passion was cars – classic and current – he was so meticulous about his automobiles. John could tell you every car he owned over the decades, and never missed a local car show!

Faithful in his daily devotions and prayers, John was a member of Woodville Grace Brethren Church, where he served the congregation as a deacon, and was instrumental in forming the church food pantry. He had gone on a mission trip to Ukraine, but his trip to the Holy Lands with Gretchen was very special.

John leaves a legacy of deep love for his family. He was proactive in helping others he would…”do anything for you”…and…”was the best Dad in the world.”

He is survived by his wife Gretchen (Tschantz) Rudrick; their son Greg (Darlene) Rudrick of Lexington, daughters Vicki (Paul) Knackstedt of Lexington, Dyanne (Larry) McCall of Ocala, FL, and Judy (Dan) Carbary of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; sisters Marilyn (William) Scott of Lucas, Carol Tschantz of Mansfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in by his step mother Clementine Rudrick, and a sister Helen Wright Loch.

The Rudrick family will receive guests Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastors TJ Hahn and Steven Schag will officiate. Private interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
