MANSFIELD: Lucille Maynard, 96, of Mansfield went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Grant Medical Center, Columbus, following a short illness surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 16, 1928 in Louisa, KY to William and Sarah (Derifield) Martin, and began studying to become a teacher. At a pie social, Lucille was surprised when Jim Maynard bought her pie and proclaimed he was going to marry her someday. After serving in WWII he returned home and promptly proposed to her, they were married December 14, 1946.
Making their home in Mansfield, Lucille worked at Dominion, Steven’s Manufacturing and eventually All-Prints before retirement.
Lucille attended First Alliance Church and Berean Baptist Church when she was able. She enjoyed luncheons with Berean Gold and the camaraderie with fellow Christians.
Lucille loved to cook and bake making favorites for her family like pies, cookies, fried chicken and Jim’s all time most requested red cake. She was a skilled seamstress making clothes for her daughters. Lucille was and excellent housekeeper keeping everything neat and tidy. Above all else, Lucille was the quintessential mother and grandmother. She loved her immediate family deeply and extended that affection to her extended family.
She is survived by her twin daughters Ernestine and Sam Ferrise and Nadine Maynard of Mansfield; grandchildren Annette and Jason Voelp, Joseph James Ferrise, and Joanne and Allen Morvai; great grandchildren Sarah, Jared, Faith, and Grace Voelp, and Isla and Autumn Morvai; a sister Laverne Fitzpatrick along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents and beloved Jim, she was preceded in death by siblings Dove Diamond, Thelma Dillon, Minerva Kittle, Winfield Martin, and Virginia Salmons.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2024 from 11 am to 12 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will follow at 12 pm. Jason Voelp will officiate and burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
