Karen J. Markwell, age 82, resident of Shelby, passed away in her home, Friday, March 15, 2024.

Born November 26, 1941, in Willard, OH to Donald L. and Carman (Wiseman) Berry, she had been an area resident the majority of her life. A 1953 graduate of Willard High School, Karen was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. A loving housewife, Karen cherished her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed needle point crafts, crocheting and watching pod casts on her computer. Karen was interested in genealogy and was involved in online groups helping others with their ancestry journeys.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rodger Glenn Markwell, whom she wed June 5, 1965; one son Rodger Glenn Markwell II and his wife, Jennifer Siler-Markwell of Worthington, OH; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Markwell of West Mansfield, OH, Kaitlyn Markwell of Manitowoc Wisconsin, Nicholas Siler of Powell, OH and Reagan Siler of Worthington, OH; one brother David Berry and his wife Karen of Norwalk; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William Berry.

Friends may visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with burial taking place at a later date.
