Mt. Gilead: Nicole L. Plew, age 37, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at home following a long battle with cancer.
She was born August 3, 1986 in Mansfield to Larry and Sharon (Arnold) Plew. She was nicknamed “Rosebud” by her grandma Arlene, and the name stuck throughout her life. Nicole graduated from Ontario High School in 2004. There, she played softball and was in the marching band. Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University studying Psychology and later an associate in paralegal services.
She worked for many years at McDonalds along with her mother, and during COVID enjoyed running Door Dash deliveries.
A book lover, she could be found pouring over a dark romance novel and sharing her love of books with her children. Her happy place was undoubtedly near the water, soaking up the sun or relaxing at the pool in Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head. A fervent “Swifty” she loved Taylor Sift music and spending time with Smokey, her favorite feline and best friend the past 14 years.
She was blessed with the gift of humor and loved to laugh, even when she wasn’t feeling well, she cherished time sharing memories with her loved ones. She didn’t mince words, and called them as she saw them, and was fierce in her love for her family.
Nicole is survived by her children Addison and Maxwell Smith both of Mt. Gilead; her parents Larry and Sharon Plew of Mt. Gilead; brother Benjamin (Katie) Plew of Galion; maternal grandmother Helen Arnold of Mt. Gilead; a niece Lacey Plew; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Richard Arnold and paternal grandparents Arlene and Benjamin Plew.
