James Edward Schaub, age 80, passed away peacefully March 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 31, 1943 in Shelby to Herbert and Mary (Smith) Schaub he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1962 graduate of Shelby High School. Jim then went on to work at the TUBY for almost 43 years before retiring in 2005.

He was passionate about anything car related, whether it be driving his El Camino or building model cars and watching car auctions. He also enjoyed camping, watching westerns and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Dean) Schaub, whom he married November 13, 1970, his children; Connie Thompson of Toledo, Tonya Schaub of Texas, Todd (Jeanette) Schaub of Willard, James (Brenda) Schaub II of Shiloh, and Jeff (Amanda) Schaub of Shiloh, grandchildren; Jessica, Katy, Brandon, Derrick, Brett, Logan, Alysse, Chayce, Grant, Blake, Carter, Hunter, Josh, Alexis, Claudia, Charles, Taylor, Zac, and Noah, 11 great-grandchildren with number 12 on the way, one great-great grandchild on the way, sister Annie Shultz of Galion and sister-in-law Bobbie Clevenger of Shelby. As well as many other relatives and close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Barnett and two brother-in-laws; Gary Clevenger and Chuck Dean Jr.

Friends may visit Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 12:00PM – 1:15 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at 1:30PM at Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Doug Tackett and Reverend Dr. Russell Yoak officiating.
