Seneca East rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Colonel Crawford for the third time this season, earning a 44-38 Division IV district championship win at Willard High School. This marked the school’s first district title.

The Tigers led 12-11 after the first quarter, but neither team could find the range in the second period, with the Eagles managing an 18-15 halftime lead by outscoring SE 7-3 in the period.

Coach Dave Sheldon’s team, the two-time defending district champion, expanded the advantage to 28-21 with another excellent defensive stand in the third period.

The Tigers dominated the final eight minutes, outscoring the Eagles 23-10 to capture a regional berth.

Lucas Bordner topped Seneca East with 12 points.

Trevor Vogt was the only Colonel Crawford player to reach double figures with Vogt with 16 points. 

Coach Anthony Langhurst’s squad improves to 19-5 and will head to its first regional, in Canton, to challenge heavy state championship favorite Richmond Heights, who beat Willoughby Cornerstone 95-54 on Friday night.

The Eagles finished the season with an 18-7 record.
