BUCYRUS — The stars came out and were shining bright at the 2024 Scholarships for Success event.

The celebration, held at the Crawford Success Center, spotlighted Crawford County students’ working to achieve their life-changing goals with education. This 2024 event generated over $27,000 in funds for scholarships.

The Second Lady of Ohio, Tina Husted served as this year’s emcee. In recent years, she has created a painting in partnership with North Central State College Foundation and Cedar Fair Charities entitled β€œCedar Sky” which features the Cedar Point causeway.

This year’s painting was unveiled at the event featuring the park’s evening view called β€œCedar Night.”

Both paintings are featured on Cedar Point’s webpage and in the main souvenir shops.

The proceeds from the paintings and prints go to scholarships that benefit students attending North Central State College and the Crawford Success Center.

A pinnacle moment during the program was the announcement of the 2024 Leadership Award honoree, Kimberly Jenney, vice president of North Central Ohio media group.

Jenney has served as a visionary leader impacting thousands of lives across Crawford County.

Online news sources like Crawford County Now and Marion Now news outlets are just a few of the vital resources she has provided to the community.

The event spotlighted Officer John Wallis, a Galion Police officer and instructor at North Central State College, as he shared information about the new NCSC drone program.

Officer Wallis stressed the impact the new program has already had in search and rescue situations, and he described how it helps keep first responders safe.

The event culminated with the announcement of a new scholarship, established by David Bush, to support Crawford County students in memory of his grandparents. The John and Mary Invocato Memorial Scholarship is the second scholarship established by Bush.

The 2024 β€œScholarships for Success” was sponsored by OhioHealth, North Central Ohio Media Group, Ohio Mutual, Castle Auctions, Avita Health Systems, Park National Bank, Ark Realty, Farmers Citizen Bank, Wise Funeral Home, Lind Media, Mizick and Miller, and Watts Insurance.

Chris Copper, vice president for the North Central State College Foundation and Development shared, β€œWe see the importance of the generosity of area donors and how vital education is in changing the trajectory for generations to come.
