Letter to the Editor in purple lettering on envelope

For years, Galion water supply has not met EPA standards and the Mayor, Tom OLeary, as well as City Council has turned a blind eye to it.  This despite outcry from the community.

The water treatment plant had operated under the bare minimum and sometimes, not even that.

In 2021, the funds were available through a loan with the EPA to fix all of the issues.  Both, Mayor and the city council, declined.  The mayor’s reasoning was that in the years since, grants have been secured and they don’t require regulation.

In the meantime, nothing has been fixed.  The city’s water is still not something someone wants to consume, if they have the choice.

The city currently has a water loss of TENS of THOUSANDS of GALLONS of water a month that they are losing revenue for.  City council and Mayor told the City Treasure when she asked about it to stay in her lane. (City Council meeting 2/26/24)

Now, we have a letter from EPA come out that we have industries dumping into our water supply:

The city has not tested or sampled any IUs (industrial user) from the period of January 1, 2023 until January 1, 2024.  In fact, the industry found to be dumping, has not be inspected since 2020!

All calls for action to Mayor and City Council fall on deaf ears. We are at a loss! WE NEED HELP!  WE DESERVE SAFE WATER! PLEASE HELP!
