Joan Fern (Dozer) Porter, 90, passed away February 28, 2024 after an extended illness.

She was born on August 21, 1933 in Morgan County, Ohio to Ivan and Norma (Matheney) Dozer.

She graduated from York Local High School and married Richard (Dick) Porter on June 10, 1951. They celebrated 65 years of marriage until his passing in 2017.

She worked for Marty Bricker Architect, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the American Cancer Society during her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, going to garage sales, and baking cookies and pies. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best. She donated her pies to pie auctions whenever asked. She crocheted numerous hats, neck scarves and “koozies” and gave them to friends and family. She donated baby hats for newborns to the local hospital maternity ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, great grandchild Ethan Utt, sisters Carol Ross and Carma Dozer, and brother Mayard Dozer.

She is survived by daughter Kim Arron, son Jay (Connie) Porter; six grandchildren Ashley Porter (Rob MacDonald), Tyson (Lyndsey) Porter, Casey (Michael) Britton, Trent (Melissa) Porter, Lindsay (Ralph) Smith, Travis (Chelsea) Porter; brother Bruce Dozer; brother-in-law Jerry Ross; and 10 great grandchildren.

As per her wishes, a private family service will be held.
