MANSFIELD — In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library presents “Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence.”
This is a poster exhibition organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Main Library at 43 W. Third St., Mansfield, March 4 to 22.
The story of women’s suffrage is a story of voting rights, of inclusion in and exclusion from the franchise, and of our civic development as a nation.
This exhibit celebrates the 19th Amendment, which prohibits the government from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote based on sex and explores the complexity of the women’s suffrage movement and the relevance of this history to Americans’ lives today.
The Main Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
