Zachary W. Minnich, 34

Zachary W. Minnich, 34 of Ashland passed away Sunday afternoon, February 25, 2024 in University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center after a short, brave battle with brain cancer.

The son of William “Bill” and Dorothy (nee Bulcher) Minnich, Zach was born on December 11, 1989 in Ashland.

Zach graduated from Hillsdale High School, Class of 2008. He furthered his education and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ashland University in 2014.

He was employed at Ashland University for the past eight years in the Building Services Department.

Zach was loved by many. His laughter lifted a room and his ornery antics delighted family, friends and coworkers. During his life he enjoyed reading, writing, music, painting, and most of all gifting humorous Christmas presents to others. His presence will be deeply missed by so many as he unselfishly gave. For his final act of kindness, he chose to be an organ donor so that others may have the gift of life.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mrs. Dorothy Minnich of Ashland; six sisters, Elizabeth (Dr. James Jr.) Saltzgiver of Ontario, Natalie (Robb) Stohlman of Cincinnati, Teresa Minnich of Chicago, Valerie Minnich of Chicago, Wanda (Andrew) Verslype of Loveland, and Kate (Shawn) Shaffer of Ashland; nine nieces and nephews, Audrey, Madeline, Ella, Henry, Lily, Robert, Charlie, Lucy and Liam; an aunt, Barbara Lemmer of Piqua; his cousin and Godmother, Karen (Chris) Jones of Maineville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins on his mother’s side of the family.

Zach is preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Minnich who passed away on October 3, 2022.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Roman Catholic Church with Father Rod Kreidler presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
