Vickie Lynne Jones, age 71 of Ashland, Ohio passed away on February 24, 2024, at Mansfield Memorial Homes following a brief hospice stay for comfort care.
On January 24,1953 she was born in Ashland Ohio the daughter of the late Clayton and Dorothy Rishel (Strickling). On February 7, 1970, she married Vaughn Bowmar Jr. and together they shared 32 years of marriage. Vickie was born and raised in Ashland Ohio. She spent most of her life in Mohicanville being a wife and a mother and raising their three children. She did work briefly after the children leh home at Liquibox of Ashland before retiring to spend what little time she never knew she had with her husband Vaughn. Vickie was a former member of the Salvation Army and the Women’s Home League. Even though she wasn’t an active member at the time of her death, she did believe in the Lord our Savior. She enjoyed spending any little time she could with her family.
She understood that everyone had a life and it was busy, but she would make time for any minute we were able to give her.
Vickie is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Paul) Schoonover of Ashland; two sons, Vaughn Bowmar III of Mohicanville and Charles Bowmar of Chillicothe; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Brown of Ashland and many nieces and nephews who she absolutely adored and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Bowmar Jr.; her second husband, Richard Jones; her parents; three brothers, Gerald, Jim and Larry Rishel; two sisters, Mary Seitz and Dorcus Kircher.
We would like to thank everyone for the prayers and understanding during this difficult time of honoring what Vickie wanted. She was a fighter, but she was tired, and she knew the road ahead of her was going to be long and hard. I’m sure it was a difficult decision even for her, but it was her decision. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Cremation And Memorial Society in Vickie‘s name or to Andrea Schoonover, her daughter.
