Joyce Ellen (Dovenbarger Lotz) Taylor, age 76, died Friday, February 23, 2024, at her home in Shelby, following a prolonged illness.
She was born December 7, 1947, in Mansfield, Ohio, and resided in the Mansfield and Shelby areas all her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby. Joyce was an artisan of crafts and an accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Taylor; three sons, Sean Lotz (Amy Williams), Lee Taylor and Neil (Brooke) Taylor; three step sons, John Taylor Jr., Robert (Juanita) Taylor and Frank (Dina) Taylor; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Dovenbarger of Crestline and Joel Dovenbarger of Durham, NC; a sister-in-law, Karen Dovenbarger of Roy, UT; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Dovenbarger Sr. and Eleanor (Perdew Dovenbarger) Eichler; brother, Gene Dovenbarger; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Dovenbarger.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Croft officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to World Wildlife Fund (worldwildlife.org).
