Jeffery Withers, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

He was born May 5, 1960, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Elex and Evelyn (Bond) Withers. Jeff was always joyous and had a boisterous personality. He always had a smile on his face lighting up the room and he made everyone around him laugh. He never knew a stranger and always treated people with kindness and compassion. Jeff had a very strong and special connection with his mother, and she had a significant influence on his life. Jeff and his brother, Tony, had a unique and unbreakable bond, sharing not only love but also the same birthday, just one year apart. Jeff’s positive influence on those he knew and loved will forever be cherished and there aren’t words strong enough to say how much he will be missed.

Jeff attended Mansfield Senior High School and played football and basketball throughout his school years. He was an avid sports fan and loved Mansfield Tygers football. However, his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He lived and breathed blue and silver in support of the Cowboys. In addition to his love for sports, Jeff was passionate about music. He was always listening to his radio and whenever he heard a familiar beat, he knew the words to the songs without hesitation. His energy was always contagious, especially around the holidays. Jeff was always eager to celebrate with his family for not only Thanksgiving and Christmas, but was always thrilled for birthdays! Jeff was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and often enjoyed leading his family in prayer. Furthermore, Jeff appreciated the support he received from Catalyst (The Center), and oftentimes would arrive on Monday morning right when the doors would open. His cheerful spirit will forever live on in the memories of those he impacted.

He is survived by four siblings, Evelyn (Jerry) Saunders of Mansfield, Annie Withers-Taylor of Pataskala, OH, Mark Withers of Mansfield and Anthony “Tony” Withers of CA; and cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Fannie Withers who died at birth; three siblings, Hattie Withers-Martin, Chester “Mike” Withers and Alex Withers Jr.; maternal grandparents, Lucy and Lucius Bond; and paternal grandparents, Ida Harris-Withers and William Withers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh, Ohio.
