Mary Lou McCollister, age 83, of Ashland, passed away late Saturday evening, February 3, 2024, at Kingston of Ashland.

She was born May 5, 1940, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late Edna (Allen) and Jesse C. Tibbs. She was formerly employed at Therm-O-Disc. She was a very friendly and sometimes feisty woman who was generous and selfless. She was the best mother anyone could hope to have and she was an amazing cook. Spending time with her family was her priority. Mary Lou loved to read and boat on Charles Mill Lake.

Mary Lou is survived by four children, Joseph (Jen) McCollister, Steven McCollister, Amy Schofield and James M. McCollister; six grandchildren, Jesse (Aerie) McCollister, LeAnne (R.D. III) DeLoach, William (Lindsay) Schofield, Krystene (Michael) Hill, Christian Schofield and Zavier McCollister; eight great-grandchildren, Kanyon, Leland, Austin, Aleeyah, Lyncoln, Brycen, Alaia and Emerson; a sister, Kathy (Richard) Miller; longtime friend, Chuck Ashford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, Orville, Victor, and Lester; four sisters, Martha, Wanda, Eula, Cynthia; and ex-husband, James L. McCollister.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Fusion Church, 2170 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
