MANSFIELD: Sandra Lynn Ball MacPherson, age 81, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 in Crystal Care Center of Mansfield following a short illness.

She was born December 28, 1942 in Cheektowaga, NY to the late Donald and Viva (MacPherson) Huffman. Her family moved to Mansfield where she graduated from Madison High School and at the age of 45 she went to college at North Central State studying mechanical engineering. Sandy worked at F. E. Krocka and Associates, Inc. and worked 14 years at Therm-O-Disc as the Chief Design Checker.

On April 8, 1960 she married L.D. Ball with whom she celebrated nearly 64 years of marriage.
She was a member of All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Bellville for over 30 years and participated as a guest speaker. She also loved genealogy and volunteered at the Ohio Genealogical Society. Of Strong Scottish decent, Sandy was proud of her heritage and enjoyed several trips to Scotland, along with vacations to Africa and several to Canada.

Sandy was active with the Blackfork Players, performing and volunteering at the theater. A Sci-Fi junkie she loved all things Star Wars and Star Trek. Sandy was an avid reader, getting lost in all kinds of books, and loved going to the movies.
Described as adventurous and fun loving, Sandy was a fighter, strong in her convictions. Most of all, what brought her joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband L.D. Ball of Mansfield; children Raymond Ball of Fredericktown, Lara Welty of Delaware, and Sarah (Alandize) Winston of Champaign, Illinois; grandchildren Broderick Ball, Brent Ball, Hayley Carr, Sheyenne Drazick, Skylar Ball and Shane Ball, Sahvanna MacPherson, Tegan, Terrin and Alajaha; great grandchildren Karma, Justin, and Xander and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Ball, daughter-in-law Christine Ball, grandson Justin Carr, and brother Neil Huffman.

Friends may call Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 1 pm to 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Thursday at Kokosing Nature Preserve, 10620 Quarry Chapel Road, Gambier, Ohio 43022.

Memorial donations may be made to All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church or The Ohio Genealogical Society.
