Joyce Evelyn Stevens, age 78, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Born September 9, 1945, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Phyllis (Littleton) and Okey Lawhorn. Joyce graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. She was a member of Laborers Local Union #1216 Union and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Joyce had a servant’s heart and was always helping and taking care of others above herself. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shopping and gardening were favorite ways to pass the time. Joyce loved her dogs and that led to her volunteering many hours with the Humane Society of Richland County for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Carl (Brenda) Stevens Jr. and Billy (Elizabeth) Stevens; seven grandchildren, Alexander (Katherine) Griffeth, Kaitlyn (Zach) Fraley, Nicholas (Amber) Stevens, Jacob (Amanda) Stevens, Taylor (Chris) Mulherin, Chase Stevens and Emily (Kidron) Stamper; twelve great-grandchildren, Drake and Trey Griffeth, Ethan and Eliana Fraley, Vera, Adaline, Isabella, Mason, Myles, and Ella Stevens, Brady Mulherin and Delta Stamper; three brothers, Leotis (Freda) Lawhorn, Frank (Theresa) Lawhorn, Eugene (Trudy) Lawhorn; three sisters-in-law, Frances Stevens, Darlene (Guy) Glover and Pauline Carroll; special cousin, Shirley Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and close relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl E. Stevens; and a sister, Faye (Junior) Tackett.
Private family services will be observed.
