BUTLER: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control”- everyone who knew Doug Crill knew he was the physical embodiment of these attributes. He had the rare gift of giving everyone his undivided attention when you were with him, and showering you with praises and his affection that made you feel like you were the only person in the room.
Doug R. Crill, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was 56.
He was born on January 27,1968 to the late Bob Crill & Judy (Kuhn) Gillespie in Loudonville, Ohio. In his adult years Doug worked for USF Holland for 18 years as a semi driver, where he obtained his 1,000,000-mile safety award. For the last ten years he has been working his dream job as an over the road driver for UPS. Truck driving was not just a job for Doug, it was a passion he loved to do every day, which many coworkers and bosses can attest to throughout the years.
In his spare time, he took pleasure in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, mowing his yard, riding dirt bikes every chance he got, and spending quality time with his beloved cat Oliver. He also enjoyed attending and fellowshipping at Three Crosses Church in Butler, where he was a member. But above all else, Doug cherished time with his daughter Camryn. He believed being a father to Camryn was the greatest achievement in his life, and he was the most doting, supportive, and proud father he could be. Doug will forever be remembered for his contagious smile, his warm and all-encompassing hugs (often touted as the best hugs ever), and how he never met a stranger. His unique ability to light up every room and share that light with everyone it touched will be missed by so many who loved him.
He is survived by his loving daughter Camryn Crill, mother Judy Gillespie, siblings Annette Jones, Kim (Jim) Jackson, and David (Lori) Crill, nieces and nephews Savanah Jackson, Jay Jackson, Meghan (Josh) Mader, Lana Jones, Josh Crill, Skyler Jones, and Casey Jones, his faithful four-legged companion Oliver, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Doug is preceded in death by his father Bob Crill and step-father Don Gillespie.
The Crill family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 1- 3 pm and 6-9 pm at Three Crosses Church in Butler. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at the church on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Three Crosses Church in Doug’s honor.
