Frank Arthur Stursa was born on September 17, 1943, in Amherst, Ohio, to Sophie and Frank J. Stursa. The family moved to Westfield, New York, where he graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1962.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving four years on the USS Enterprise.
After his service in the Navy, he moved to Elyria, Ohio, where he met his future wife Barbara Ortner. They were married in 1971 and had almost 53 years together.
Frank worked at General Motors in Elyria for a short time and at Ortner Air Service where he earned his commercial pilot’s license. He retired from the Village of Wellington as a licensed water and wastewater plant operator. He was a volunteer fireman in Wakeman for 25 years.
After retiring, Frank and Barb moved from Wakeman to Mansfield, Ohio. They spent a lot of time traveling and enjoying time with their grandchildren. Frank particularly enjoyed attending the races at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with his grandson Erick.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Mark (Tiffany Horner), Jessica (Phillip Hill), and Darren (Ashley) and grandchildren Erick Hill, Lucy Hill and Audrey Stursa. His sisters Gwen (Howard) Haskin, Carol (Don) Mosier and Donna (JR) Anderson. A niece, two nephews, a great niece and three great nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Snyder Funeral Home at 2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio, on Saturday, February 10 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A military honors ceremony will be held at 1:00 P.M. Internment will be at the Little Washington Cemetery.
