Letter to the Editor in purple lettering on envelope

Dear Mayor/ People of Bellville

I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you as a concerned veteran and advocate of the truth besides lies, expressing my support for the establishment of a cannabis dispensary within your village.

I believe that such a facility can bring about positive change, especially for veterans dealing with various health issues. Also cancer patients! That seek alternate medication besides big pharmaceutical companies that tell them they had to take their medication!!

As a veteran, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges that many of our comrades face upon returning home. Physical injuries, mental health concerns, and chronic pain are prevalent issues among veterans, and it is crucial for us to explore alternative and effective methods of treatment.

I am pleased to provide you with information from reputable sources that highlight the potential benefits of medical cannabis for veterans:

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM): In a comprehensive report titled “The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids,” NASEM found substantial evidence that cannabis can be effective in treating chronic pain, which is a common issue for veterans.

The report also highlights the potential benefits for managing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): While federal laws currently limit the VA’s ability to prescribe or recommend medical cannabis, the VA acknowledges that some veterans may find relief through its use.

Research from the VA suggests that medical cannabis could be a viable option for managing certain conditions, and they encourage open communication between veterans and their healthcare providers.

American Legion: The American Legion, one of the largest veterans’ organizations in the United States, passed a resolution urging the federal government to reclassify cannabis and enable research into its potential benefits for veterans.

They recognize the need for alternative treatments and support increased research in this area.

These sources highlight the growing acknowledgment within the medical and veteran communities regarding the potential benefits of medical cannabis.

I believe that by allowing a cannabis dispensary in our community, we can provide veterans with a legal and regulated avenue to access these potential benefits.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that the economic impact of cannabis dispensaries has been positive in many communities. Job creation, increased tax revenue, and community development are potential outcomes that can significantly benefit our city.

I appreciate your time and consideration of this matter. I trust that, with careful evaluation and an open mind, our community can make informed decisions that prioritize the well-being of our veterans and people with disability and the overall prosperity of our village and surrounding communities

Thank you for your service to our community, and I look forward to hearing about positive developments in this regard.

And just keep in mind you guys have roughly 20 establishments that sell alcohol that is detrimental more than cannabis for 1,800 people in your community!

Sincerely,

Nate Warmath,

Bellville, Ohio
