Kenneth E. Schoonover, age 78, of Galion, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, peacefully at home. He was born on June 13, 1945, the son of Charles H. and Phyllis M. (Damron) Schoonover.
Ken was a lifelong resident of Mansfield, Ohio. He was a longtime employee of Peabody Barnes and the Bud Company in Ashland, Ohio. He was an avid fan of street and drag car racing, always appreciating a well-built Mopar. He put his family first, always caring for his wife and daughters. He will be greatly missed by us all.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Beverly (Black) Schoonover; daughters, Michelle (John) Lambert, Heidi Schoonover, and Brooke (Adam) Schoonover; grandchildren, Stephanie (Anthony) Nichols, Joshua Lambert, Alec (Mady) Deeb, and Sterling Baumgardner; and great-grandchildren, Madalene Nichols, Alexis Nichols, Lycoln Lambert, and Joseph Achuff.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles F. Schoonover and Larry H. Schoonover; three sisters, Kimberly (Schoonover) Walters, Sharon D. (Schoonover) Conley, and Pamela S. (Schoonover) Hicks; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Hicks and Mike Conley.
Calling hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Hank Webb officiating.
