Lanny Eugene Candel, of Galion, passed away Sunday January 14, 2024, due to illnesses. Lanny was born October 29, 1943, in Bucyrus, to the late Harry and Leah Belle (Gier) Candel.
Lanny married the love of his life Rose M. (Snyder) Candel on February 2, 1964, they were just shy of Celebrating their 60th wedding Anniversary.
Lanny graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in 1961. After graduating from high school Lanny worked at Cobey’s, Timkins, and General Motors. They then moved to Indiana where he attended Marion Wesleyan College, in Marion, Indiana, graduating in May 1975, with a bachelor’s degree in arts. Lanny worked at two churches in Indiana before moving to Galion, Ohio. Once here in Galion, he worked at a church and Covert Manufacturing as a Machinist where he later retired from.
Lanny loved farming, raising sheep, of which he raised for 4-H, receiving many awards, ribbons, and trophies from the local county and State fairs. He had many interests hunting, watching football, reading many books, and helping his family while they were ill. Lanny had a love for his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Through it all he had an everlasting love for the Lord.
Along with his wife Rose, left to cherish Lanny’s memories are his son David (Karen) Candel, grandson, Abraham Candel, and granddaughter Ameleah (Nate) Morris, 2 great grandchildren Braelyn Candel and Mallory Morris, and 1 more due in February.
Lanny is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Leah Candel, and brother Raymond Candel.
Friends may call on Wednesday January 17, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30am at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral service to immediately follow at 11:30 with Chaplain Bill Seymore officiating. Family will observe a private burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville.
