JoAnne Cunningham passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus surrounded by her loving family. She was 85.

She was born March 6, 1938 to parents John & Alberta (Fisher) Oyster in Bellville. After JoAnne was graduated from Bellville High School, she went on to study at Heidelberg College.

On December 17, 1960, she married Robert E. Cunningham, her high school sweetheart. They spent most of their married life in Bellville until moving to Columbus after Bob retired to be closer to children and grandchildren. Together they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away October 4, 2010. Now they are together again.

JoAnne loved to spend time out on the links. She and Bob played many rounds at Little Apple in Bellville and in fact each of them hit a hole in one there only a month apart. She also enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams. JoAnne enjoyed playing bridge having been in multiple clubs and her favorite singer was Neil Diamond. Most importantly of all, she was very strong in her faith and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, doing everything from baking pies with Erin to talking politics with Michael and Ryan.

She is survived by son Craig (Michele) Cunningham of Columbus; grandchildren Erin Elizabeth (Vincent) Macioce of Columbus, Ryan Patrick Cunningham of Columbus and Michael Brendan Cunningham of Columbus as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Laura Sue Cunningham; sister Donna & John Van Horn.

The family would like to give special recognition to Russell and Erma Kocheiser (as they helped raise JoAnne and her sister Donna) as well as brother-in-law Jim & Ginny Cunningham and brother-in-law Jack Cunningham.

The Cunningham family will receive friends Monday, January 15, 2024 from 11 am – 1 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service honoring JoAnne’s life will begin immediately at 1 p.m. Celebrant Chris Radio will speak. Her final resting place will be in Bellville Cemetery.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society online.
