Violet (Vi) M. Haverfield, aged 88, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida on August 20, 2023. She was born on May 1, 1935 to Walter and Edith (Rider) Maglott.

Vi was a 1953 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, where she met her future husband Kenneth (Ken) Haverfield in band class. On June 28, 1953 Vi and Ken were united in marriage and enjoyed 70 years together. The couple lived in Mansfield, Ohio until Ken retired in 1987, then became snowbirds- spending their winters at Tahiti Mobile Village in Estero, Florida while continuing to spend their summers at Lake Maria in Mansfield before eventually becoming full time Florida residents. During her younger years at Tahiti Village, Vi enjoyed being involved in activities such as managing several bus trips for the park and being a big part of their yearly “Trash and Treasure” sale. She also enjoyed delivering their park newsletter (The Echo) and participating in Bingo. She also continued to enjoy bowling for a few years after moving to Estero.

In her younger years Vi was a member of the Junior Women’s League of Mansfield and also belonged to a Bridge club. She loved playing cards with family and friends & enjoyed all different card games throughout her life. Vi also took up painting, often painting on canvas, slate, or on decorative bird houses that Ken would build for her. Along with her love of crafts Vi would sew, knit, and crochet, making throws and pillows for her family. She also enjoyed reading a good book and recommending selections to her family and friends.

Vi was a homemaker caring for her four children and also worked at Marco Photo in Mansfield.

Her life was filled with many joys, however, life’s journey also held moments of sorrow. Vi was preceded in death by her two sons. Steven Haverfield in 1977 and Pastor Jeffrey Haverfield in 2012. Despite these heartaches being with Vi the rest of her life, she continued to face life’s challenges.

Vi is survived by her husband Ken Haverfield of Fort Myers, Florida, her daughters, Vickie (Ed) Brown of Lexington, Ohio, and Holly Warner of Maumee, Ohio, daughter-in-law, Bobbi Haverfield of Brookfield, Illinois, grandchildren Nick (Tawny) Brown, Greg (Heather) Brown, Eric (Sidney) Brown, Zac Haverfield, Josh Haverfield, Kaitlin Warner, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Pat Finley, and brother Eddie (Carolyn) Maglott.

Vi was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters- in-law Dwight (Dorothy) Maglott and Chuck (Betty) Maglott, her sisters and brothers-in-law Donna (Carl) Smith, Wilma (Nelson) Pritchard, and brother-in-law Denny Finley.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida for their wonderful care of Vi during this difficult time.
