MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Parks & Recreation Department is teaming up with an organization called Connecting Kids Inside Out to host an event called Family Fishing Day from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

The event will take place at North Lake Park (625 Hope Rd., Mansfield).

Connecting Kids Inside Out is a non-profit organization founded by former Mansfield resident Tamala Soloman. She is now based in Columbus but has offices all around the United States. She wants to do some community service work in our hometown of Mansfield. Richland County Children Services is excited to work with Tamala and the city parks department on this event.

Family Fishing Day is a totally free event geared toward the whole family. The day will include catch and release fishing with poles and bait provided. There will also be a petting zoo, a kids zone, free food, demonstrations and much more.

This event is a Connecting Kids Inside Out event and it is also sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife and the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.

If you have any questions contact, Angel N. Singleton Recreation Coordinator City of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Dept., 419-522-9801 office or 419-610-6915 cell.

This is going to be a great event for our community, said Brigitte Coles, Community Engagement Specialist, Richland County Children Services.
