Norma J. Hopkins

Norma Jean Haley Hopkins was reunited with her beloved husband, Chuck Hopkins, as she faded peacefully from this world on Monday, June 6, 2023. She was 75. She was born on May 2, 1948 to parents Charles and Anna J. (Sens) Haley in Marion, Ohio.

Norma pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree and dedicating herself to the profession for 44 years until her retirement in 2016. She provided compassionate care to countless individuals throughout her career.

On October 12, 1973 she married the love of her life Charles “Hoppy” Hopkins. The two share 47 wonderful years together until his passing in 2020, they are now together again.

Norma had a zest for life and enjoyed various interests. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and could often be found passionately cheering on her favorite team. Norma also had a green thumb and found joy in tending to her garden. Antique shopping was a cherished pastime, as she loved discovering unique treasures. Most of all, Norma cherished spending time with her family, creating lifelong memories. She found tranquility and joy at the family’s lake house on Lake Erie and embraced the opportunity to explore new destinations while traveling.

Norma’s deep faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted Catholic, she found solace and community at St. Peter’s Church in Mansfield, Ohio.

Norma is survived by her son Ben (Amanda) Hopkins, grandchildren Ty and Gracie Hopkins, Haley, Brennan, and Jordan, sisters Theresa (Richard) Duffey, and Dr. Julie (Dr. Michael) Thomas, brothers Thomas (Roxanne) Haley, Stephen (Karen) Haley, and David (Debbie) Haley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she helped shape. Special cousins Cathy Krist, Teresa Rollison, and Philip Rollison.

In addition to her husband, Norma is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Karen Sue Haley, and Mary Beth Brock.

Her family will receive friends from 3-6 pm Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Snyder Funeral Homes Lexington Avenue Chapel, where a vigil will begin at 6 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (60 South Mulberry St. in Mansfield) celebrated by Father Kevin Moebius.
