SHELBY — Join the Richland County Shelby Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society at 6 p.m. May 11 at the Shelby Senior Center, 154 North Gamble Street to learn more about the community project, a self-guided tour at Oakland Cemetery featuring those who shaped Shelby.
The Shelby Heritage Walk will open Memorial Day.
Yellow signs with QR codes that lead to written and audio biographies on shelbyohiohistory.org will be placed at the headstones of prominent Shelbians, like early settlers Stephen Marvin, Henry Whitney and Eli Wilson, as well as Shelby builders John Seltzer, Henry Wentz and John and Anna Fish.
Artists and writers Lizzy Marvin, Ora Coltman and Charles Whiting Williams will round out the 30 locations that will be highlighted through the summer project.
The Shelby Heritage Walk is open during daytime hours and can also be accessed, for the most part, via automobile.
