SHELBY — Olie Francis, of Shelby, attends Pioneer Career & Technology Center and is a very active student.

He is always looking for a challenge. He found that challenge when he was told he could update Pioneer’s mascot.

He worked a long time studying how to make a new version of the Pioneer Penguin. Recently, he showed the finished project to Pioneer’s BOE. His instructor, Linette Moritz, wore the uniform in front of the board members and it was met with enthusiasm.

Olie has also written a “Mascot Care Manuel” to help keep the uniform in tip-top shape. He works at Cain Graphics and has learned a lot.

His future holds a possible business of his own in some sort of design. He has shown a great work ethic and is full of great ideas.
