COLUMBUS – Loudonville junior Corri Vermilya has been chosen the Ohio Division III girls’ basketball player of the year.

The Division III girls basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Monday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

The 5-foot-9 Loudonville junior averaged 29.5 points per game for the Redbirds.

Vermilya finished third in Ohio’s Ms. Basketball voting. She also averaged 12.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 6.5 steals per game for the league champion and district semifinalist.

Included during her season was a 59-point performance in a 71-68 win over OCC co-champ Mansfield Senior and three other 40-point plus efforts.

The Ashland University-commit was the Mid-Buckeye Conference Player of the Year and the District 4 Player of the Year.

Three other area players earned honorable-mention distinction, including sophomore Cally Carpenter of Fredericktown, Clear Fork senior Lilly Wortman, and Wynford senior Grace Stucky.
