The Fredericktown boys basketball squad claimed a Division III sectional championship on Friday night.
The ninth-seeded Freddies’ fans held their breath in an uneasy 51-44 victory over ninth-seeded Richwood North Union in a home tourney tilt.
Next up for Fredericktown is a district semifinal date with No. 1-seed Africentric. That game is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Olentangy Berlin, according to the OHSAA website.
The KMAC champion Freddies will bring a 17-7 record into that tilt. The Nubians improved to 19-5 after hammering Cristo Rey 87-33 on Saturday night.
