WOOSTER — Lexington clinched a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference boys basketball championship on Friday night with a convincing 73-50 victory at Wooster.

The Minutemen improved to 17-2 overall, 12-1 in the OCC by controlling the Generals from the first quarter.

Lex opened an 18-15 first-period lead, cruised to a 36-24 halftime advantage, and enjoyed a 53-41 margin heading to the final eight minutes.

Coach Scott Hamilton’s club looked inside for its firepower. Center Baden Forup pumped in 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, 11 of them on the offensive glass. Senior Hudson Moore contributed 22 points and 7 rebounds. Freshman Brayden Fogle posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Elijah Hudson added 11 points.

Calbe Scott topped the Generals with 18 points, while Blake Bowen chipped in 14 points.

The Minutemen clobbered Wooster on the boards, 46-26.

Lexington travels to Ottawa-Glandorf tonight, one of the state’s best Division III teams, led by 6-5 superstar junior Colin White.

O-G is 16-3, falling only to Lutheran West (65-62), Cincinnati Princeton (53-52) and Lima Senior (52-48).

One of Ottawa-Glandorf’s wins this season was a 78-44 rout of St. Mary’s, a team which handed Lexington one of its only two losses this season.

Wooster dropped to 10-11 overall, 6-6 in the OCC. The Generals will conclude their regular-season schedule next Friday at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
