Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another episode of The Open Mic Podcast, with your host Tom Hirst, brought to you by Richland Source and Newsroom After Hours!

This week was a special one for me. I had the pleasure of interviewing Octavio Más-Arocas, the music director for the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra!

He was such a delightful person to interview. His immense passion for what he does draws you in and grips you. It compels you to want to understand what it is about his job that fuels the passion he displays.

There is so, so much that goes on behind the scenes for every single performance the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra puts on that we really just begin to scratch beneath the surface with the time we had. We talk everything from his process of picking the music they play to the work that goes into tying the theme and music into the performances that you see when they play.

This was probably my favorite interview so far and I know you’ll enjoy it! Especially the tomato fight conversation…

Check out their up and coming performance schedule here, The Renaissance Theatre and the Mansfield Symphony, as well as some interesting background information on the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra!
