JEROMESVILLE — Hillsdale grabbed a 14-0 first-quarter bulge, but then things went sideways fast in a 70-14 loss to Norwayne in Wayne County Athletic League play.
Jake Hoverstock scored on a 2-yard TD plunge, and Braylen Jarvis added an 8-yard touchdown dash to put the Falcons on top early.
However, the Bobcats gained control in the second period to take a 28-14 halftime lead, and expanded it to 63-14 heading to the final 12 minutes.
Norwayne quarterback Elijah Stanley threw for two scores and ran for one more. The Bobcats notched a pair of defensive touchdowns, Caleb Erhard’s 51-yard pick-six and Jayson Gallion’s 48-yard fumble return for a score. Mason Moyer added a 62-yard punt return for another TD.
Norwayne enjoyed a 220-19 advantage in passing yards.
The Falcons posted 187 yards rushing, but it wasn’t enough to stem the onslaught. Hillsdale falls to 1-3, 0-1 in the Wayne County Athletic League, and will bus to Doylestown next week to meet Chippewa.
The Bobcats are 3-1, 1-0 and host Northwestern on Friday night.
