MOUNT BLANCHARD — It was hard to know the emotional state the Colonel Crawford football team would be in for Friday night’s season opener at Riverdale.

Coach Jake Bruner, a former Bucyrus head coach, was in charge for his first game on the Eagles’ sidelines after former coach Ryan Teglovic passed away in May from pancreatic cancer. Teglovic built C.C. into a powerhouse and was wildly popular in the North Robinson community.

But the foundation he built, and Bruner has maintained, showed through on Friday night. The Eagles smashed the Falcons 53-22.

Colonel Crawford put this game away in the first quarter, rolling to a 27-7 edge and enjoying a 40-15 halftime advantage. A running clock began in the third quarter when the gap widened to 47-15.

Kamryn Lohr led the way, throwing a pair of touchdown passes and running for another score.

Trevor Vogt caught a 23-yard TD pass and returned a kickoff for a 75-yard score. Lohr had a 57-yard touchdown dash, Ethan Holt hauled in a 65-yard TD pass, Tanner Dyer ripped off an 86-yard scoring bolt, and Tyler Smith authored a 35-yard scoring jaunt to punctuate a night of explosive plays.

Lohr was 3-of-5 passing for 120 yards and Dyer ran for 109 yards as the Eagles dominated the statistical battle, too.
