ASHLAND — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Ashland and Richland counties, among others in the region, until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The tornado watch follows the issuing of a hazardous weather outlook issued for the same areas, which forecasted thunderstorms this evening, along with wind gusts and heavy rain.
A tornado watch differs from a warning in that it tells people to be prepared. Warnings are issued when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar, according the NWS.
Thunderstorms are expected to last until midnight. Temperatures tonight will hang around 50 degrees. The NWS expects new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.
Rain is expected to stop briefly on Wednesday and Thursday before rain rolls in again Friday and Saturday, according to the NWS.
