MILLERSBURG — A big third quarter helped Lexington overcome a halftime deficit and earn a 59-56 Ohio Cardinal Conference boys basketball victory at West Holmes on Friday night.
Baden Forup paced the Minutemen with 17 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Jackson scored 11 points, Hudson Moore posted 10 points and seven boards, and Caden Eichler notched nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds as Lexington enjoyed a whopping 35-22 advantage on the glass.
Mason Wolfe’s 17 points spearheaded the Knights offense, while Channer Wells added 16 and Blake Morrison netted 13.
The Knights moved on top 16-15 after the first quarter, and led 30-26 at halftime. But the Minutemen responded with a 20-13 burst in the third period to zoom in front 46-43 heading to the final eight minutes. Lex stayed there as both teams scored 13 points apiece in the fourth quarter.
Coach Scott Hamilton’s team improves to 13-7 overall, 7-4 in the OCC. The Minutemen host Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday night.
West Holmes falls to 10-9, 6-5. The Knights host Ashland on Tuesday.
