LEXINGTON — Baden Forup proved to be a statistical force while spearheading Lexington to a 65-38 pounding of Ontario in Thursday night’s battle between backyard boys basketball rivals.
Forup pumped in 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Minutemen outscored the Warriors (4-4) in every quarter. Hudson Moore chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds, while Caden Eichler and Jack Deppershmidt contributed nine points apiece.
The Minutemen led 16-9 after the first quarter and cruised to a 34-18 halftime bulge. Coach Scott Hamilton’s squad kept the pressure on by maintaining a 50-28 advantage through the third period.
Darian Delbrugge was the only Warrior to reach twin digits, topping his team with 16 points. Teammate Josh Young added seven points.
Lexington (7-1) enjoyed a 38-25 rebounding bulge, and forced 18 turnovers, while committing just six. The Minutemen racked up 12 steals.
Coach Tim Mergel’s club made just 13 of 37 field goals (35 percent), including 3-of-13 from behind the arc (23 percent) against Lexington’s stifling defense.
Ontario is at Bellevue on Monday, while Lexington hosts Mount Vernon Academy on Tuesday.
