JACKSON TOWNSHIP — Two incumbents are seeking re-election in the Jackson Township Board of Trustees race.

Mark Eshelman and Greg Vogt will try to keep their seats on the three-person board. They will be joined on the ballot by Kevin Alt.

The 60-year-old Eshelman has been on the job for six years.

“I want to make sure the residents get their money’s worth on road maintenance and snow removal,” the self-employed Eshelman said. “Our township was in an uproar when I first ran, but we’ve got things settled down and I enjoy the job.

“Our job is primarily road maintenance. We’ve got good roads in the township now and I want to see them kept up and spend the tax-payers money wisely.”

Vogt, 59, has been on the board for seven years. He worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 32 years before retiring and then went back to work as a highway project inspector for private consulting firm.

“I’m still doing inspection work on structures and also roadways,” Vogt said. “I have probably a total of 40 years of experience on roadways.

“My goal is to make the roadways safe for our residents. Safety is the most important thing to me and it was instilled in me while I was working for ODOT.”

Vogt was also a member of the 200th Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer (REDHORSE) unit, based at Camp Perry in Port Clinton.

“I built roads in the military,” Vogt said. “We were a bunch of engineers.”

Vogt is proud of the work the Jackson Township trustees are doing.

“We have really good township roads,” Vogt said. “We put the money back into them.”

Alt wants to see Jackson Township continue to thrive.

“I want the township to be run in an efficient manner,” Alt said. “The job of the Township Trustee is to work for the citizens and that’s what I’ll do.”
