PLYMOUTH — Once the Plymouth offense was awakened, it refused to simmer down.
Eventually, the Big Red reached a boiling pointe and blew out Mapleton 60-38 in a Firelands Conference rout on Homecoming night.
Interestingly, Plymouth’s offense rallied from an early deficit and went on a scoring binge. Mapleton opened a 14-6 first-quarter edge, and widened the gap to 30-12 at one point.
But then the Big Red Vikings closed to within 30-28 at the half.
The second half was all Plymouth. The Big Red opened up the throttle for 54-38 lead at the end of the third quarter, and coasted from there.
The Mounties fell to 1-5 overall, 0-3 in the Firelands Conference. Mapleton hosts South Central next week.
Plymouth improves to 4-3 overall, 1-3 in the conference. The Big Red are at Crestview on Friday night.
