Ontario humbles Lakewood in non-conference affair

The Warriors took a road trip to Licking County and put a 49-19 spanking on Lakewood in a non-conference game at Hebron.

Ontario improves to 2-3 heading into next week’s home game with River Valley.

The Lancers fell to 0-5.

Tiffin Columbian deals Tygers 2nd straight loss

A trip to Tiffin turned into a nightmare on Friday night for Mansfield Senior, which lost its second straight game while falling 40-27.

Senior High started strong, opening a 17-13 first-quarter edge, but the Tornadoes dominated the second period for a 27-17 halftime advantage.

The Tygers tied the game at 27 apiece heading to the final 12 minutes, but Tiffin controlled the fourth quarter with a pair of TDs and a shutout defensive performance.

Mansfield Senior had a pair of pick-6s, with Myles Bradley taking one back 83 yards, and Ja’Ontay O’Bryant going 34 yards to tie the game with with 3:56 showing in the third period.

Senior High falls to 3-2 heading into next week’s game at Lexington.

West Holmes rolls over Madison

West Holmes enjoyed a big first half, and then coasted to a victory ride after a 40-7 verdict at Madison on Friday night in an Ohio Cardinal Conference clash.

West Holmes sophomore running back Sam Williams-Dixon got loose on a 48-yard TD dash early for a 7-0 Knights’ lead. But Madison responded immediately after passes of 32 and 31 yards to senior Issac Brooks set up a 1-yard TD plunge by Hunter Hutcheson. That tied the game at 7-7.

But it was all Knights after that. West Holmes owned a 14-7 first-quarter lead, and expanded it to 33-7 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third period, but West Holmes tacked on a final score with less than four minutes to play while triggering a running clock.

The Rams were off the previous two weeks with COVID restrictions, and fall to 0-3 heading into next week’s game at Ashland.

Williams-Dixon was hit hard in the third quarter of this game and fumbled. He was stretched out on the field for several minutes holding his head before leaving the game. He did not return.

Clear Fork mauls River Valley in strong showing 41-13

Clear Fork left no doubt of its superiority in polishing off River Valley 41-13 in an Ohio high school football matchup.

The Colts enjoyed a towering margin over the Vikings with a 34-6 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Colts fought to a 21-6 intermission margin at the Vikings’ expense.

The Colts drew first blood by forging a 14-0 margin over the Vikings after the first quarter.

Ashland overcomes early deficit in win over Mount Vernon

Ashland rallied after a first-quarter deficit to knock off Mt. Vernon 35-17 in an Ohio high school football matchup.

Ashland jumped in front of Mt. Vernon 28-15 going into the fourth quarter.

Ashland fought to a 22-15 halftime margin at Mt. Vernon’s expense.

Mt. Vernon started on steady ground by forging a 15-7 lead over Ashland at the end of the first quarter.

Crestview blanks Monroeville

Crestview threw a defensive blanket on Monroeville Friday night, rolling to a 34-0 shutout victory in Firelands Conference action.

The sixth-ranked Cougars opened a 13-0 first-quarter lead, and owned a 27-0 halftime bulge.

Crestview triggered a running clock in the third period with another score.

The Cougars are 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the Firelands Conference.

The Eagles dropped to 2-3, 1-1.

South Central blows out Dayton Christian

South Central showed little rust after a hiatus due to COVID restrictions. The Trojans thumped Dayton Christian 47-7.

Neither team scored in the first period, but South Central forged a 15-7 halftime advantage.

The Trojans put it away with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to grab a 27-7 margin heading to the final 12 minutes — which they dominated.

South Central is 2-2 overall and will host Monroeville next week.

Colonel Crawford’s offense erupts on Upper Sandusky

Colonel Crawford scored in every quarter, and controlled its game throughout to dominate Upper Sandusky 60-19 on Friday night for a road victory.

Lincoln Mollenkopf ran for an incredible 311 yards and scored four touchdowns, while Kamryn Lohr hit 11-13 passes for 106 yards and a TD. The Eagles also got 128 yards rushing a touchdown from Matt Cinard.

The game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter, but the Eagles moved in front 20-13 at halftime.

C.C. exploded for a 26-point barrage in the third period to open a 46-13 bulge heading to the final period.

Colonel Crawford is 4-1 after bouncing back from last week’s 30-17 loss at Carey. The Eagles host Wynford next week.

Wynford squashes Buckeye Central 

Wynford hammered Buckeye Central Friday night to the tune of a 70-8 pounding in a contest pitting Crawford County rivals.

The Royals opened a 35-0 first-quarter lead, and goosed it to 56-8 at halftime.

The second half was played with a running clock, and Wynford scored a TD in each of the final two periods.

The Royals are 3-2 heading into next week’s game at Colonel Crawford.

The Bucks drop to 2-3 and host Upper Sandusky on Friday night.

Upper Scioto Valley manhandles Crestline

Upper Scioto Valley controlled the scoreboard and the game in a sound 42-8 victory over Crestline in an Ohio high school football matchup on September 17.

Upper Scioto Valley roared over Crestline when the fourth quarter began 42-0.

The Rams opened a whopping 34-0 gap over the Bulldogs at halftime.

Arlington’s speedy start jolts Vanlue 61-18

Arlington took control early and methodically pulled away to beat Vanlue 61-18 for an Ohio high school football victory on September 17.

The Red Devils’ defense locked up the victory with a shutout performance in the second and final quarters.

The Red Devils’ rule showed as they carried a 61-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

Norwayne overwhelms Hillsdale 42-7

Impressive was a ready adjective for Norwayne’s 42-7 throttling of Hillsdale in Ohio high school football action on September 17.

Norwayne’s supremacy showed as it carried a 42-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats’ offense moved to a 21-7 lead over the Falcons at halftime.

Norwayne opened with a 7-0 advantage over Hillsdale through the first quarter.

Waynesfield-Goshen rolls over Marion Elgin 56-28

Waynesfield-Goshen showered the scoreboard with points to drown Marion Elgin 56-28 in an Ohio high school football matchup.

Waynesfield-Goshen breathed fire in front of Marion Elgin 49-20 to begin the fourth quarter.

Waynesfield-Goshen opened a whopping 42-14 gap over Marion Elgin at the intermission.

The first quarter gave Waynesfield-Goshen a 14-6 lead over Marion Elgin.
