SHELBY — Shelby voters will be asked to renew two property tax levies on the Nov. 2 ballot, among 12 such issues on the Richland County general election ballot.

The City of Shelby is seeking renewals of a pair of five-year levies: a 0.9 issue for the Shelby City Health Department and a 0.5 mill tax for the parks department.

Also in Shelby, the Shelby City School District seeks renewal of a three-mill, five-year levy for emergency requirements.

As renewals, none of these Shelby levies will result in new taxes for the city’s residents if approved.

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 4 and early voting begins on Oct. 5. For more information, visit the Richland County Board of Elections.

Other tax issues on the ballot on Nov. 2 are:

— The Village of Bellville is asking voters to approve replacement of a 4-mill, 5-year levy for roads and bridges. Replacing the levy will result in updating the tax to current property values and generating additional revenue for the village.

— The Village of Lexington seeks the renewal of a 1-mill, 5-year property tax for its parks and recreation department.

— Jefferson Township, excluding the Village of Bellville, is asking for the renewal of a 2-mill, 5-year levy for roads and bridges.

— Monroe Township, excluding the Village of Lucas, is asking for renewal of a 0.75-mill, five-year levy for bridges and roads.

— Sandusky Township, excluding the City of Galion and the Village of Crestline, seeks renewal of a 1.5-mill, five-year property tax for roads and bridges.

— Some voters in Mifflin and Monroe townships .will be voting on a 1.1-mill, additional levy for permanent improvements for the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center for a continuing period of time.

— Some voters in Mifflin Township will vote on the renewal of a 9.9-mill, five-year levy for current expenses in the Ashland City School District.

— Some voters in Monroe Township will vote on the renewal of a 2.7-mill, 10-year levy for emergency requirements in the Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District.

— The Lucas Local District is asking voters to approve the renewal of a 2.7-mill, five-year levy for emergency requirements.

There are also two local liquor options on the Nov. 2 ballot for Wishmaker Bed & Breakfast in Jefferson Township precinct “A” and for Aldi’s in Ontario precinct “3A.”
