BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus Bicentennial Commission will be celebrating a big Founder’s Day Weekend starting on Saturday, July 3 at noon in downtown Bucyrus.

The festivities on July 3 will include entertainment on the Schines Art Park Stage, food vendors, games on the square, costume contest, and guided building tours, including the Train Station and the Historical Society.

The Fire Department will be hosting tours of their station along with antique fire engines. A Founder’s Day Parade at 6 p.m. will run from Harmon Park down Lane Street to the Bucyrus Elementary School and a “Happy Birthday Bucyrus” Party to follow in Picking Park where 500 cupcakes will be given away.

The evening will be concluded with the Kiwanis Fireworks display, being shot off from Lane Street soccer field, where 6000 shells will be seen anywhere downtown.

On Sunday, July 4 their will be a cemetery walk at noon in Oakwood Cemetery featuring prominent residents of Bucyrus. Golf carts will also be provided.

Monday, July 5 The Historical Society will be opening the Time Capsule from 1971 at 1 p.m.

They will also be hosting tours from 1 to 5 and the Train Station will open from 1 to 4 p.m.

SCHINES ART PARK DEDICATION CEREMONY SET FOR JULY 2

The City of Bucyrus would like to announce the dedication of the Schines Art Park Stage on Friday, July 2 at 4 p.m. 301 S. Sandusky Avenue, Bucyrus.

The stage was donated by NC State and the City was awarded a grant by the State for $125,000. The Schines Art Park is now a gem in the center of downtown Bucyrus and the city would like to invite everyone to the dedication ceremony.
