MANSFIELD — The body of a missing Shelby woman was found Sunday evening in the trunk of her car in central Ohio, according to Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon.

Melinda Kay Davis, 33, of Shelby, was last seen Feb. 25, driving her black 2013 Volkswagen Jetta near Shelby High School.

Authorities searching for Davis since she disappeared got a phone call from Columbus police Sunday at 6:15 p.m., saying they had located her car in Galloway, Ohio.

The vehicle was brought back to Richland County, according to Sheldon.

Authorities believe she was headed to see her ex-boyfriend John Henry Mack, 43, who lives just south of Mansfield.

Mack was arrested March 4 and charged with kidnapping and receiving stolen property. He remains in the Richland County Jail.
