Eleanor D. Canning

Mansfield: Eleanor D. Canning, 89, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Avita Hospital Ontario.

The daughter of Harley and Margaret (Inglish) Flesher, Eleanor was born October 18, 1931 in Barberton, Ohio and graduated from Kenmore High School in Akron, OH in 1949. On May 17, 1952 she married James Canning. The two moved to Mansfield in 1962.  Eleanor worked as a secretary at Bank One in Mansfield where she retired. 

Eleanor was a member at First United Methodist Church where she volunteered as a hostess after church services.  She also volunteered for the Salvation Army ringing the bell around the holidays.

She is survived by her children Nancy (David) Green of Lenexa, KS, Brenda (Rex) Linkenbach of Mansfield, Gerry (Ron) Green of Knoxville, TN, and Christy Daugherty of Mansfield; eight grandchildren Kathryn (Matt), Joe (Kalissa), Abby, Grant (Eva), Meg (fiancé Eric Rondini), Hailey, Erin, Alex (Mallory); great-grandchildren Emma, Charlie, Cole and Reid.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband James Canning; granddaughter Carly Daugherty; siblings Lee Flesher, Roland Flesher, and twin sister Evelyn Flesher Forsch.

Private family services will be held in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.  Entombment will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Funeral services will be live-streamed Wednesday, December 30, 2020 beginning at 11 am through the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Homes’ Facebook page.

Memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church or Salvation Army may be made through the funeral home.
