BEREA — Just one week into the season and it’s already been a crazy football campaign for the Ashland High School athletic department.

Last week athletics director Jason Goings and football coach Sean Seder were hoping to find a Week One opponent in the contracted and odd schedule forced upon the district by the COVID-19 restrictions. Earlier this week it was announced an opponent had been found, albeit a Division I opponent, on the road, and nearly an hour away.

But the Arrows made the best of it, drove north toward Cleveland, and came back with a suprising 19-18 victory over Berea-Midpark in the opener.

Like most other games in the region, this one was also delayed by the weather. However, Ashland pushed out to a 13-12 halftime advantage over the Titans. Each team scored a TD in the final period, but missed their respective conversions to account for the final score.

The Arrows dive into Ohio Cardinal Conference action on Friday when they host Mount Vernon in their home opener at Community Stadium.
