MANSFIELD — The Inkcarceration Tattoo and Music Festival has canceled its July 2020 festival.
“Let us be clear, this is heartbreaking for us,” organizers of the event said in a press release. “We held out as long as we could and worked extremely hard to find a way to make Inkcarceration happen this year.
“But with the uncertainty of COVID-19, we must put the safety of fans, worker, and bands first and follow the advice of health officials.”
All ticket refund options will be available on the website.
The music and tattoo festival held at the Ohio State Reformatory since 2018 was scheduled July 10 through 12 and to host headliners Weezer, Limp Bizkit, Blink-182 and more than 30 other hard rock bands.
This event is touted as one of the nation’s premier rock festivals. Inkcarceration 2019 featured over 30 bands on two outdoor stages, 65 tattoo artists, reformatory tours, gourmet food trucks, and for the first time, the haunted house attraction, Escape from Blood Prison.
Mansfield’s own Sink The Ship was scheduled to play July 12. Sink The Ship would have been the first local band to perform at the event.
“It sucks and we’re disappointed,” said Colton Ulery, lead sinker of Sink the Ship. “I hope we’re going to play in 2021.”
