MANSFIELD — The Miss Ohio Scholarship Program has been postponed, according to Jeff Angelini, a member of the Miss Ohio advisory committee.
Candidates were expected to arrive in Mansfield on June 13 and compete for the Miss Ohio crown the following week. But with the Stay-at-Home orders in place due to COVID-19, the Miss Ohio Board didn’t feel like there was enough time for the local contest winners and organizers to prepare for the event.
“We don’t have the particulars yet,” Angelini said. “We made the decision a few days ago.”
Angelini said the boards are formulating a plan for the future of Miss Ohio 2020.
“We may have to move venues,” the former Miss Ohio board member said. “The Renaissance Theatre is busy until August, and the board is worried the college-aged candidates won’t be able to do that. Another option is consolidating the competition to a few days as opposed a whole week.
“It depends on how Miss America responds to this. We will work with the powers that be.”
