Editors Note: Richland Source hasn’t been around long enough to chronicle the last decade in full…but we hope to be. If you’d like to help us get to our 10-year anniversary, consider becoming a member today at sourcemembers.com

MANSFIELD — The end of the year seems to always serve as a reminder to review the expiring calendar, and with 2020 looming on Jan. 1, it can make one look back at the decade.

Newsroom After Hours –arguably the most exciting thing to happen to the region since Richland Source hired me in 2016 — will see its fifth volume (season) beginning in April of 2020.

Since its beginning, we’ve showcased more than 30 original local musicians and gained attention from media outlets around the nation:

Below I’ve compiled a list of my favorite videos Richland Source has recorded. I think you’ll agree that Mansfield music is dripping with talent.

1. Divebomb performed at Hardcore Halloween, the final show of Newsroom After Hours Vol. 4 in the Idea Works garage.

2. Coma Love performed at Newsroom After Hours, Sept. 19 at Richland Source. Here is their first number of the night, ‘Need,’ featuring Taj Torrence.

3. Luke Adkins performed during May’s pop music night at Richland Source’s Newsroom After Hours show. Here is his song ‘Martyr,’ brought to you by Mechanics Bank.

4. We’re definitely not “So Confused” about loving Kid Kulture’s performance with The Trio at Newsroom After Hours on July 20.

5. Jimi Vincent has been playing his guitar for listeners all over Ohio for 50 years. His first gig was in Hayesville Elementary School in kindergarten. And he’s been slinging on guitar ever since.

His blues stem from a lifetime of tumult and hardship, from losing a child to losing a home by fire.

Here he is performing “Taste of Your Own Medicine” for an After Hours concert in the Richland Source newsroom in downtown Mansfield. Before the show, he told us he displays emotion in every song — but this one seems to carry extra weight.

6. The Magnavoz’s took the Newsroom After Hours crowd for a psychedelic trip the first show of the season.

7. BirdsCage performed at the Augusts Hard Rock night, and inspired our publisher Jay Allred to act like the wild man he is.

8. WARNING: Explicit lyrics are used in this song. Mumvies Boy performs “Spice Girls” in Richland Source’s editorial department for a RichlandLIVE After Hours concert.

9. We were honored to host Poolboy’s final show in the basement garage at Richland Source on Oct. 16.

WARNING: There is some strong language in their song “Mansfield.”

10. I know I know, “Noah, The American Collective is your band. 🙄” but it was such an exciting day for our band to get to play Newsroom After Hours. And after all, my editor asked me to make this list, not you.

This song is about getting older and not loving it. I hope you enjoy.

I’d like to thank the the Richland Source staff members who assist me and help me do everything to make these events possible each third Friday of the month: Zac Hiser, Adam Fox, Tracy Leturgey and Brittany Schock and Aaron Nicholas (who we literally couldn’t do these events without), along with a helping camera hand from Bryan Phillips and Maggie Allred.

Thank you to our sponsors, who help us create a safe space for anyone who wishes to take part in the truly special nature of quality local music and the ever-growing crowds who come and hang out with us.

If you are a local musician or have a friend who is, and want to play a show at Newsroom After Hours, please shoot an email to me at Noah@richlandsource.com. Please include three original songs.
