DAYTON — A second body has been found in the 900 block of W. Stewart Street in Dayton, according to local authorities.
“The Dayton Police Department has confirmed to Mansfield Division of Police that Kyla Hayton was found deceased in their city (Monday) morning. The death is being investigated as a homicide,” Mansfield Police Capt. Shari Robertson said in a press release. “Unfortunately, this is not the outcome we had hoped for and we ask that you keep both families in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
On Nov. 22, the Montgomery Coroner’s Office said officials there discovered Todd Burkhart’s body in an abandoned home located at 900 Stewart Street.
An autopsy was performed Saturday. The Montgomery County Coroner, Kent Harshbarger, said Burkhart died of multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide.
The Dayton Daily News is reporting Dayton Police were in the area of the newly found body and police tape was being put up. It is not known yet if there there is a connection with the homicide case of Burkhart.
Burkhart and Kyla Hayton, 20, were last seen Nov. 16 when the couple dropped off their daughter in Columbus with her grandparents and told family they’d be traveling to Dayton, possibly to purchase an firearm for a friend. The couple was to return Nov. 17, according to Dayton police.
Hayton, who is five months pregnant, remains missing.
This is a developing story.
