GALION — Five north central Ohio girls earned All-Ohio recognition this week when the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced its all-state teams.
Included in that group are four Crawford County athletes, an Ashland County girl and a Morrow County standout.
Buckeye Central senior Lexi Evak earned second-team recognition in Division IV. The Buckettes’ middle hitter registered 295 kills and a .470 percentage. She also had 66 blocks this year while leading B.C. to a 19-5 record and a Northern 10 championship with a perfect 16-0 record in the league.
Three Galion volleyball players also made the elite list in Division III.
Junior setter Kayla Hardy and senior hitter Taylor Keeran were both second-team selections, while junior teammate Samantha Comer made the third team.
Hardy collected 883 assists, and added 221 digs, while Keeran had 280 kills, 78 blocks and a .446 percentage. Comer notched 287 kills and 250 digs. The trio led Galion to a district championship this year.
Crestview junior Kenedi Goon was a third-team selection, too. The 6-foot-1 hitter recorded 287 kills and 250 digs for the Cougars.

All players who are awarded this distinction and awards will be handed out at noon at the State All Star Match slated for Sunday, Nov. 17, at noon at Wooster High School.
